Google Calendar를 이용한 휴일 센서 - My Day-off SmartThings SmartApp

Cache

New SmartThings

There's a time and a place for Twitter.... and this is not that time

I own one cat. Her name is Luxe. I grew up with cats, mostly black and white. My mom claims my first cat was named Feathers -- and I do remember encasing some furry black object in various laundry hampers -- but the first cat I picked out was Bebop the black and white cat. Bebop, like so many indoor/outdoor cats, unfortunately disappeared. We still don't know what happened to that beautiful black and white cat.

I've had Luxe for five years, since moving to Chicago. She is a Christmas cat because I got her at Christmas. Tiny Luxe enjoyed sitting under the Christmas tree and on top of the lap of the life-sized stuffed Santa thing we own and all animals look hilarious surrounded by holiday ornamentation, so when I do try to remember her birthday, those are the landmarks I recall.

I am responsible for Luxe care -- buying the food, feeding her the food, cleaning out her box, and arranging for pet care if I can bear to leave her home alone when I go out of town. I live with my boyfriend, Eliot, and I'm sure he would be open to feeding Luxe, but I have forbidden it, because I feared she was getting a little paunchy and potentially overfed. The vet called it a fat patch, so now sometimes I call her Fat Patch, though she is not technically an overweight cat.

Luxe the cat is alone during the Superbowl. When she's alone, she sleeps. I know this for a 100% fact. When I was little, I thought my cat disappeared when I left the house and re-appeared when I came home. Now I know she just sleeps. Sometimes she watches us leave. We live on the top floor of a 3-story walk-up. She watches us walk out the door and all she see are the stairs. I know she wonders, "Why are they standing on those stairs all day?"

Luxe lives to escape. She is an apartment cat, but she's really a willful, outdoor cat, and would love to live outside. We do not let her out (she is NOT allowed out at ANY time) but of course, the screen door occasionally opens and she pokes her head around our legs and her eyes are wild with longing.

Luxe lives with two people, Eliot and Kristin, Kristin and Eliot. We are her mommy and daddy. We are not married. Eliot tried to resist the distinction for awhile -- and called himself "Uncle Eliot" but I thought that was fundamentally silly; clearly, we are her parents.

I am a real estate agent so my life and Luxe's life are tangled up together. I'll drive into the loop in the morning and sometimes I won't be home all day, but when I do come home, Luxe meets me at the door, chirping. Our pet-sitter called her a squeaky mouse. When I'm home, using my computer, she drapes herself firmly in my lap and is difficult to move.

I retrieved Luxe over a Christmas break from a shelter without Eliot's permission. She's a Tortoiseshell American house cat.

When Luxe was little, her favorite activities included sleeping on our heads, sleeping on our expensive World Market laundry hamper and scratching at it, and racing around the apartment in an uncontrolled way. She is young for her age -- five -- and still wants to chase after toys, hurling herself at our bed and the walls.

We feed Luxe about a half-cup of food twice a day, usually in the evenings. She'll also get some food in the morning -- and meows very aggressively until this happens -- but I will not be bullied. I don't reward meows with food. The feeding ritual is very important to Luxe, far more so than the food. She expects her bowl lifted and shook around, and I make a big show of it, even if I don't actually put food in her bowl. She'll rub at my legs and show great affection. She considers feeding time "her time" and has expectations that I will watch her eat.

Usually, I'll indulge this desire before I go to bed. She gets very anxious when her food bowl is empty but is not an overeater. We don't have to monitor her and leave food in the bowl. We store the food in a plastic Container Store bin by the food dish and store the bag of dry food itself in our hall closet. This keeps the food fresher for her. We don't do treats or human food, though Luxe does like to drink water from the faucet. I suppose she has also gotten her greedy face into a bowl of leftover cereal milk, if I'm being honest. We also occasionally drop a few pieces of dry food into her water at night, which seems to encourage her to drink a little more.

With Luxe, we enjoy holding her and we also enjoy dominating her, and messing with her. Cats are fun to mess with, I think because they cannot alter their facial expressions. Their pupils dilate and their tails expand but their faces are always the same. Luxe never connects the instruments of her harassment with me personally. This is a very forgiving part of her personality. For example, recently I obtained a "robot claw" from an unnamed source (toy store) and was greatly anticipating reliving the glory days of butt-pinching in toy form.

Turns out Luxe is extremely wary of the robot claw, much like her enemies The Vacuum and The Swiffer Sweeper. Hilarious times ensued. Luxe would puff up and scoot, and we would attack, and she even produced a hiss or two. But at no point did she ever consider that I, her mother, was the one controlling the Claw. In fact, after the Claw was put away, she would seek comfort from me. Luxe never flinches. No one has ever raised a hand to her. She lives in a world without fear.

More about Luxe:

Luxe sleeps on our bed at night. When she's cold, she sleeps somewhere around my neck. In the morning, when she is on our bed at our feet, and I'm awake and Eliot is asleep, I will whisper, "Luxe.... LUXE," and she'll stretch and wake up and climb into my arms.

In conclusion, more LUXE!

STATE LEGISLATIVE ALERT

EMAIL/CALL GOV. LARRY HOGAN AND
URGE HIM TO VETO PAID LEAVE MANDATE BILL

Dear SHRM Members,

Maryland's "Healthy Working Families Act" (HB 01) was passed on April 5, 2017. The legislation requires Maryland employers with 15 or more employees to provide all employees working at least twelve (12) hours per week a minimum 40 hours of paid sick leave per year, which if not front-end loaded must accrue at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked. Employers with fewer than 15 employees would be required to provide the same amount of leave but unpaid.

In our 2017 survey of SHRM members in Maryland nearly 86% of respondents indicated they opposed this bill.

Please contact Governor Hogan TODAY and ask him veto this bill, the fiscal note of which reads that the impact to business will be "significant."

Here is how YOU can make a difference:

1. Send an email to Governor Hogan through SHRM's HR Policy Action Center;

OK, We're Not Spies, But...

I don’t know about you, but I like a good spy movie. Start a Jason Bourne movie and I’ll sit and enjoy it all night long.

My guest today is Jason Hanson, a former CIA spy who has written some intriguing books about applying spy skills to those of us who aren’t spies. In this episode, we talk about his most recent book, which is entitled Agent of Influence: How to Use Spy Skills to Persuade Anyone, Sell Anything, and Build a Successful Business. And though you and I aren’t spies--or at least that’s our story and we’re sticking with it--there are lessons that can be applied by those of us who are responsible for leading teams and projects.

Anyway as a teacher, I've got stigma, enak dong, pasti anaknya pinter bla bla, lalu kalau ada sifat jelek pasti stigma nya juga, padahal anak guru hahaha. Eh guru juga is just human.

2. Wall of phonics
Waktu observe di phonics course saya liat metode mereka ngajar pake big posters bergambar macam-macam alphabetically from A to Z. Bagus nih kalau bikin nambah vocab, saya disusun nya based in English dan gak masalah anak nanti nyebutinnya di bahasa, kalau dia tanya ya jelasinnya aja.
                                            Often-Repeated Ayaat
Beautiful Quranic Verses On Love - Salam Planet
In Surah Al-Hijr ayah  87 Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says,

“And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [ayaat] and the great Qur’an.” (15:87)

Prayer is Invalid without it
There are seven ayaat in Surah Al-Fatihah that are often repeated in Salah. One’s prayer is incomplete without this Surah.

Narrated ‘Ubada bin As-Samit: Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said, “Whoever does not recite Al-Fatihah in his prayer, his prayer is invalid.” (Bukhari, Book #12, Hadeeth #723)

Al-Fatihah – A Means for Ruqya

Narrated Abu Said: Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ went on a journey till they reached some of the ‘Arab tribes (at night). They asked the latter to treat them as their guests but they refused. The chief of that tribe was then bitten by a snake (or stung by a scorpion) and they tried their best to cure him but in vain.
Some of them said (to the others), “Nothing has benefited him, will you go to the people who resided here at night, it may be that some of them might possess something (as treatment).” They went to the group of the companions (of the Prophet ﷺ) and said, “Our chief has been bitten by a snake (or stung by a scorpion) and we have tried everything but he has not benefitted. Have you got anything (useful)?”

One of them replied, “Yes, by Allah! I can recite a Ruqya, but as you have refused to accept us as your guests, I will not recite the Ruqya for you unless you fix for us some wages for it.” They agreed to pay them a flock of sheep. One of them then went and recited (Surah Al-Fatihah):
‘All the praises are for the Lord of the Worlds’ and puffed over the chief who became all right as if he was released from a chain, and got up and started walking, showing no signs of sickness. They paid them what they agreed to pay. Some of them (i.e. the companions) then suggested to divide their earnings among themselves, but the one who performed the recitation said, “Do not divide them till we go to the Prophet ﷺ and narrate the whole story to him, and wait for his order.”

So, they went to Allah’s Apostle ﷺ and narrated the story. The Prophet ﷺ asked, “How did you come to know that Surah Al-Fatihah was recited as Ruqya?” Then he added, “You have done the right thing. Divide (what you have earned) and assign a share for me as well.” The Prophet ﷺ smiled thereupon. (Bukhari, Book #36, Hadeeth #476)

A hadeeth recorded by Muslims states (meaning) the Prophet ﷺ said that there are two noors (light) that he had been blessed with; one being Al-Fatihah and the other being the last two ayaat of Surah Al-Baqarah (Ayaat 285 – 286)

In this Surah, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has given the description of the feeling that a person of intellect and wisdom goes through. The Surah talks about three aspects of our Aqeedah: Tawheed (Monotheism), Akhirah (Hereafter), and Prophethood.

Surah Al-Fatihah is a complete package of guidance. The Surah is divided between the Creator and His servant. One part talks about the attributes and rights of the Creator while the other is a prayer that His servant is making. The best example to comprehend this is that of a weighing scale that has two arms; one on each side. Each arm is held by three strings. The scale is held upright by the help of a stand. If there is an imbalance, one side of the arm will be heavier than the other.

The First Three Ayaat:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ

are solely for Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. This is the arm of the scale that talks about the Creator. These three ayaat are the strings that are holding this arm.

The Last Three Ayaat:

صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ
are solely for the mankind holding the other arm.

The Middle Ayah:

is divided between the Creator and His servants. The middle letter of this verse, ‘wa’ (and) is the stand that maintains the balance between the two arms of the scale.

Therefore, we should remember that Surah Al-Fatihah is a du’a and etiquette of du’a teach us that we should take out time and make our du’a with full khushu (humility and focus); knowing that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is listening and responding as we pray. If we take out time and are sincere in our du’a only then it is going to be responded to. On the other hand, if we are in haste and just want to get over with it, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala may not respond. It is us who need Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and not Him who needs us. If we don’t have time for Him, how can we expect Him to be always there for us whether we call upon Him or not?

Trump lost the 2016 popular vote, 2020 could be another story if Republicans access voter data

President Donald Trump can't seem to get over the fact that he lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton. He lost massively, by over 2.8 million votes, but he won the Electoral College, and thus the presidency. Yet he has repeatedly claimed that 3 million to 5 million people voted illegally for Hillary Clinton, a number that, if true, would mean that he also won the popular vote. The problem is, it's not true. So, in order to bolster his fantastical claims, Trump announced on May 11 that he was launching the "Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity" to investigate fraudulent voting. He named Kansas' controversial and fiercely anti-immigrant Secretary of State Kris Kobach as the commission's vice chairperson.

On June 28, Kobach sent a letter to all 50 states and the District of Columbia, with a sweeping request for voter rolls with details about every voter in the country: name, address, Social Security number, party affiliation, voting history, military status and more. The response was swift and bipartisan: Forty-four states and D.C. partially or fully refused to hand over the data. Mississippi's Republican secretary of state, Delbert Hosemann, replied that Kobach can "go jump in the Gulf" of Mexico, and suggested Mississippi would be a good place from which to jump.

California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, a Democrat, said: "I will not provide sensitive voter information to a commission that has already inaccurately passed judgment that millions of Californians voted illegally. California's participation would only serve to legitimize the false and already debunked claims of massive voter fraud made by the President, the Vice President, and Mr. Kobach." Even Kobach himself is not fully complying with his own request. He admitted in an interview: "In Kansas, the Social Security number is not publicly available."

What is most troubling to voting-rights and civil-rights activists is the potential that this commission is ramping up and institutionalizing voter suppression, which has long been central to Republican electoral strategy. In the fall of 1980, Paul Weyrich, a conservative Republican activist who went on to found such right-wing institutions as The Heritage Foundation, the Moral Majority and the American Legislative Exchange Council, addressed a conference in Dallas. "I don't want everybody to vote," he said. "Elections are not won by a majority of people, they never have been from the beginning of our country, and they are not now. As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down."

Think of Kris Kobach as the new Paul Weyrich. "The ACLU has sued Kobach four times on voter suppression -- and won every case," the American Civil Liberties Union wrote about Trump's new election commission. "The problem we have in this country isn't voter fraud -- it's voter suppression. And on that front, Kobach is Public Enemy No. 1." Ari Berman is a journalist who has been writing about voter suppression for years, and has written a book on it. "Kobach is really the leading architect of voter-suppression efforts nationwide," he said on the Democracy Now! news hour. "Before he was a leading proponent of voter suppression, he was a leading proponent of restricting immigration...basically what he was saying was that all of these people were in the country illegally and that they were voting illegally, as well. So he combined anti-immigrant sentiment with policies that would restrict voting rights."

The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law has filed a Hatch Act complaint against Kobach. "This is a law that was passed by Congress in 1939...it prohibits federal employees from using their official government position to engage in political activity," Kristen Clarke, the group's president and executive director, told Democracy Now! The complaint names numerous instances where Kobach has violated the law. "There are 200 million registered voters in our country, and we've never seen an effort like this to comb and pull together this extensive and vast amount of data on individuals in our country."

The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) filed an emergency motion to block the disclosure of state voter information to the commission, arguing it's a violation of the constitutional right to privacy, and that the mere transfer of the data puts private information of the entire American electorate at risk. Yes, Donald Trump lost the 2016 popular vote. But if Kris Kobach and his Republican allies get their hands on the data and succeed in suppressing the vote, then Trump may well be on his way to a landslide victory in 2020.

6th and Del Mar Fatal Crash

    Cache

On June 17th at about 12:15 p.m., Aurora Police and Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a multi-vehicle crash at East 6th Avenue and Del Mar Circle West.  There they found five vehicles had been involved in the crash.

Initial investigation found that a Nissan sedan was traveling north on Del Mar Circle West when it was struck by a GMC pickup which was traveling eastbound on East 6th Avenue. Those two vehicles then collided with other cars in the intersection as they came to rest.  The driver of the Nissan was transported to a local hospital with injuries.  No one else was injured in the crash.  Once at the hospital, the driver of the Nissan died.  It is unknown whether that person died from injuries sustained from the crash or a medical condition.  Further investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

The cause of this crash in still under investigation and the other involved drivers remained on-scene and are cooperating.  The names of the involved individuals are not being released at this time.

Crash On East Heritage Parkway Leaves One Dead

    Cache

UPDATE: On Friday September 27th Mr. Lee Fabricius  (03/11/1969) was booked into the Aurora Municipal Jail on suspicion of Vehicular Homicide and is currently being held at the Arapahoe County Jail on a $50,000.00 bond. Furthers questions about this incident should be directed to the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

Aurora, CO. - January 25th, 2017-  The Aurora Police Department Traffic Section, in conjunction with multiple metropolitan law enforcement agencies, will be conducting traffic enforcement and education operations today in support of Colorado’s “Move Over” law.  The goal of this operation is to raise awareness and educate drivers on the law for the safety of our first responders out there on the roadways.  The Move Over law requires drivers to move over a lane when there’s an emergency situation along the shoulder.  If the driver can’t move over, they must slow down significantly to avoid an accident.  The law includes all Law Enforcement, Emergency vehicles, First Responders and Tow trucks.  This operation is in response to the tragic death of Colorado State Patrol Trooper Cody Donahue on November 25th of last year, who was investigating an accident on the shoulder of I-25 in Castle Rock, when a semi-truck driver failed to move over, drifted onto the shoulder, killing Trooper Donahue.  Our operations will be conducted on the I-225 and I-70 highway corridors for most of the day.  Most drivers stopped for violating the law will be educated and given warnings.  Those violations deemed more severe could result in a traffic summons being issued with fines and/or mandatory court appearances.

An unsurprising consequence of the COVID-19 outbreak and the resulting flood of easy money (dwarfing even that of 2008) is a surge in demand for physical gold and silver. The spike in demand for bullion coins is so strong, some mints sold their entire inventories in record time. This has happened before, but this time, mines around the world are shutting down as whole countries go on lockdown.

Suddenly, there’s a shortage—and it may last much longer than the current relatively low prices—especially for silver. Some buyers are panicking.

And not without reason. I tried to buy some physical silver when prices dipped below $12 two weeks ago. I found that even high-volume dealers like Kitco were out of stock. (I don’t work for Kitco, and they don’t pay me to mention them; I simply cite them as a well-known dealer familiar to readers.)

    TOPICS:OIL DEMAND U.S. OIL DEMAND

POSTED BY SRSROCCO IN ENERGYNEWS ON APRIL 13, 2020 — 28 COMMENTS

The U.S. is only in the FIRST STAGE of the country’s oil demand destruction.  Since the nationwide shutdown announced by the U.S. Government in mid-March, domestic oil demand has fallen more than 7 million barrels per day.  In just the past three weeks, the total U.S. petroleum products supplied to the market fell by 33%.

However, I don’t believe we have seen the low yet in U.S. total oil demand. According to the EIA – U.S. Energy Information Agency, total petroleum products supplied to the market on April 3rd were 14.4 million barrels per day (mbd) compared to 21.5 mbd for March 13th.
